State Institute of Drug/Medical Device Clinical Trial of West China Hospital of Stomatology Sichuan University (GCP Center)
The State Institute of Drug/Medical Device Clinical Trial of West China Hospital of Stomatology Sichuan University (GCP Center), which is authorized for management of drug and medical device clinical trial in West China Hospital of Stomatology, was developed from the Institute of Clinical Pharmacology approved by the Ministry of Health. The institute was qualified as National Institute for Drug Clinical Trial by the CFDA in 2013, which consists of five departments: Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Endodontics, Periodontics, Preventive Dentistry and Oral Medicine. In 2018, GCP Center finished CFDA qualification recording on medical device clinical trials, and the qualified departments include Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Endodontics, Periodontics, Preventive Dentistry, Oral Medicine, Dental Implantology, Prosthodontics, Pediatric Dentistry, Plastic Surgery, Medical Imageology, Chinese Traditional Medicine and Clinical Laboratory.
The institute has secretary office, quality control office, seminar room, separate specialty subject reception room, subject clinic room, separate archives room, drug and medical device central storage room. The institute manage clinical trials of drug and medical device effectively through precise scientific design, strict organizing and conduct, rigorous quality control. There are over 300 investigators certificated by the national GCP training center, and they established multi-subject combined advanced research teams focusing on novel stomatological drug and medical device, which are led by “973 Chief Scientist ”, “Yangze River Scholar”, “National Outstanding Youth”.
After developing for 20 years, the institution has completed about 100 clinical trials on various drugs and medical devices. It has become the leading clinical trial center for drugs and medical devices of stomatology in China. The institute carries out oral clinical trials actively and is supported by the hospital with clinical and research resources and disciplinary advantages. By cooperating with National Research Centers such as National Clinical Research Center for Oral Diseases, State Key Laboratory of Oral Diseases, State Institute of Stem Cell Research, the institute has established an important platform for clinical researches and international cooperation on new technologies, new devices, new materials and new drugs.
