National Institute for Stem Cell Clinical Research
In 2017, West China School/Hospital of Stomatology, Sichuan University was approved by the National Health and Family Planning Commission and the State Food and Drug Administration as one of the National Institutes for Stem Cell Clinical Research.
The hospital has payed close attention to the construction of the institution, and has provided great support with human, material and financial resources. The hospital has provided special space, facilities, equipment, and supported the academic exchanges and medical training of medical care personnel. The institute has established the Stem Cell Research Academic Committee and the Stem Cell Clinical Evaluation Ethics Committee, published the regulations for stem cell clinical research and the standard operating procedures for stem cell clinical trials. The institute also has established a quality management and risk control program.
The institute has established the basic research, translational medicine, clinical trial platform, supported by the other five national research platforms and eight National Key Clinical Departments in the hospital. The institute has achieved innovative results in the study of the regulation mechanism of stem cell differentiation during the development of dental and maxillofacial deformities, the research on the basis and repair technology of stem cell regeneration, and the research on key prevention and treatment techniques for oral cancer prevention. At the same time, the organization has strengthen its cooperation with relevant departments and enterprises to form the stem cell industries including research, production, education and application, which will actively promote the transformation of stem cell-related results and industrial development.
