The Department of Orthodontics
The Department of Orthodontics of West China Stomatology Hospital at Sichuan University is the earliest orthodontic department established in China to carry out clinical practice and students’ education. There are 73 medical staff in the department, including 9 Professors/Consulting Physicians, 20 Associate Professors/Vice Consulting Physicians and 11 instructors/Attending Physicians. The department has been equipped with 64 dental chairs and 4 intraoral scanners, combined with CBCT examination and digital measurement and analysis system. Treatments that can be carried out in the department are as follows: early orthodontic treatment, orthodontic treatment, clear aligner treatment, digital lingual treatment, digital personalized treatment, orthodontic-orthognathic surgery combined treatment, orthodontic-prosthodontic combined treatment, orthodontic-periodontic combined treatment, orthodontic treatment of patients with cleft lip and palate, and orthodontic treatment of patients with temporomandibular joint disease. A number of physicians in the department have won prizes in various national clinical case competitions successively. The department demonstrates strong scientific strengthens that can be funded by more than 20 scientific research projects and publish nearly 100 academic articles every year.
